DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE – Portland Stage is looking for people that are passionate about using theater to connect communities, inspiring young people, and working as part of a collaborative team to create and support art. The Development Associate is a key member of the Development Department and is expected to provide the support the department needs to reach annual fundraising goals.

The ideal candidate has acute attention to detail, strong organizational skills, experience in nonprofit administration, and is technologically savvy, with experience with CRM software and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite. This is a full-time, hourly, benefits eligible position. Weekly schedule is typically 40 hours during weekdays, with the need for some evening and weekend availability surrounding special events. Compensation is $18.50-19.50/hr.

AUDIENCE SERVICES ASSOCIATES – Portland Stage is looking for people that are passionate about using theater to connect communities, inspiring young people, and working as part of a collaborative team to create and support art. As an Audience Services Associate, you would be a key member of the audience services department, you will be expected to make every patron comfortable in our theater and provide exceptional customer service.
All employees are expected to respect diverse ideas, races, genders, sexualities, abilities, culture, and religions, contribute to working in an anti-racist theater, and value Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access.
The ideal candidate has an attention to detail, friendly, good math skills, and is technologically savvy. Ideally would have experience in theater, retail, or food service. Only team players need apply. Must be at least 21 years old.We are looking to fill two Audience Services Associate positions. One will primarily work in the Box Office and support concessions at intermissions and the other will primarily be a House Manager for our Mainstage shows. Depending on the candidate, the position could be combined into one.
Positions are part-time 5-20hrs per week, and the position runs from late July to Early June. Compensation is $15.50/hr. Ideal candidates would be available evening and weekends.
The positions will remain open until filled – with an anticipated start the week of July 31, 2025.

Portland Stage holds show-specific auditions by invitation only for our Mainstage productions both locally in Portland and digitally.
Open auditions for members of Actor’s Equity Association are held every year in Portland, usually in the late spring or summer, and audition notices will be posted with Actors Equity Association.
Portland Stage Local EPA Auditions – there are no auditions scheduled at this time.
Portland Stage hires professional artists both locally and out-of-town to direct plays, design sets, lights, costumes, and sound for our productions.
Guest Artists are hired on a show-by-show basis. Portland Stage does accept portfolios and resumes from local designers and members of United Scenic Artists, but does not accept unsolicited material from actors.
We use volunteers in many aspects of the theater to help us do what we do, but our Ushers, who help us run performances by greeting patrons, scanning their tickets, seating them, and serving them concessions, are our primary volunteer corps at the theater.
If you are interested in volunteering as an usher, or would like to offer your services as a volunteer in our costume shop, for mailings, for filing, or for other theater-specific needs, please contact our Volunteer Managers. They will be able to help set you up for ushering or direct you to the proper department.
