Portland Stage hosts three discussions – Artistic Perspective, Curtain Call, and Page to Stage – that are associated with each of the six (6) productions in our Mainstage Season.
If you are interested in attending, you are welcome to come to the discussion even if you have not attended the performance.
Discussions are free and open to the general public. During the 2020-21 season, we have been hosting our discussion in an interactive live, online format. We are archiving them below.
The Artistic Perspective
The Artistic Perspective, hosted by Artistic Director Anita Stewart, is an opportunity for audience members to delve deeper into the themes and creative questions behind each production through conversation with special guests. A different scholar, visiting artist, playwright, or another expert will join the discussion each time.
The Artistic Perspective discussions are being conducted virtually on select Sunday afternoons at 5:30 pm. Visit each production page or our calendar of events for more information. Registration for these discussions is required to receive a link.
Curtain Call discussions offer a rare opportunity for audience members to talk about the production with the performers, exploring topics that range from the rehearsal process to character development to issues raised by the work.
Curtain Call discussions are being conducted virtually on select Sunday afternoons at 5:30 pm. Visit each production page or our calendar of events for more information. Registration for these discussions is required to receive a link to participate.
Page to Stage | Portland Public Library
Page to Stage discussions are currently on hiatus.
Continuing our re-imagined Book Club-style Page to Stage from last season join us at the Rhines Room two weeks before the first preview of our Mainstage Production. Scripts are available at the reference desk at the Main Branch of the Portland Public Library, or by contacting Raminta Moore at [email protected].
All participants can enter their name to win a pair of tickets to the show at the beginning of the discussion. Winners will be selected later that week.
Discussions held at Portland Public Library’s Rines Auditorium, participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.
