About Studio Rep
Studio Rep is a new, collaborative project launched by Portland Stage to build bridges between the theater, local theater artists, and our audience. The aims of Studio Rep are to learn about what excites the next generation of theater artists; introduce our audiences to their work and their audiences to ours; and above all, to contribute to the ongoing vibrancy of Portland’s theater ecology.

The 2013 Studio Rep productions are:

Bess Welden's Big Mouth Thunder Thighs
directed by Jennie Hanh
Big Mouth Thunder Thighs, a one-woman vaudeville about body and food, intertwines memoir storytelling with a variety show of roller skating, song, dance, poetry, jokes and five heart-stopping "Death Defying Acts." The show is a deeply personal, highly entertaining, and surprisingly funny look at what it takes to accept yourself.
Showing 2/14, 2/22, 2/24, 2/27, 3/2, 3/7, and 3/9

Lorem Ipsum's If We Were Birds

If We Were Birds tackles contemporary questions of war, violence, and womanhood through the lens of ancient Greek tragedy— a beautiful, bloody, and brutal new play (winner of the 2011 Canadian Governor General's Award for Drama).
Showing 2/15, 2/21, 2/23, 3/1, 3/3, 3/6, and 3/9

by Ben Ferber
directed by Todd Brian Backus
The blogosphere watches in horror as a hacktivist, a phreaker, and a cyberterrorist wage war on each other for money, for revenge, and for the lulz. A true-to-life net-noir that asks: Can a hashtag change your life? #forthelulz
Showing 2/16, 2/20, 2/23, 2/28, 3/2, 3/8, and 3/10
